CORE Dance Information

CORE Dance Company was founded by Leslie Baumberger, Stacy Estrada, Rose Patti and Zheila Pouraghabagher in August of 2010 when American Dance closed it's doors after 38 years of providing young dancers a place to study and perform. These former long time teachers and dancers vowed to continue the high quality dance training and performance opportunities by starting CORE Dance Company of the Central Coast. Together these four highly regarded teachers of dance have over 70 years of experience teaching and directing dancers both in and out of San Luis Obispo county. CORE stands for Creative, Original, Raw, Energy and adeptly describes this new dance company. Inspired by the hit TV dance show, "So You Think You Can Dance", the Directors of CORE envision a different way for dancers to study the dance arts. By watching the highly skilled young dancers on this hit show grow, push themselves and become well rounded, mature performers, a light bulb went off in these instructors head. Why not change the way dancers learn? Why not push dancers out of the traditional dance studio "box" and encourage dancers to study with as many teachers and choreographers as possible? The directors of CORE feel this would make a dancer better, more capable, stronger, more self confident and fearless, it would encourage dancers in this community to learn to appreciate each other and the shared passion for the dance arts. This is the hope and dreams of the directors of CORE, to join together with the other outstanding dance professionals in the county and give all of our dance students the best, most complete dance education possible. CORE Dance offers classes for all interested dance students and encourages all dancers to join us at CORE for a wonderful experience in dance training.
