Over 81 pounds of clothing is thrown away by the average American every year, resulting in approximately $500 billion dollars in lost value annually. This problem is centralized around fast fashion. Fast fashion, or the rapid inexpensive production of clothing, has resulted in a downward spiral of reduced clothing quality, alarming amounts of excess waste, and diminished consumer purchasing confidence. Additionally, the fashion industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions. Reversing this fast fashion waste is a must in reaching our goal of a carbon neutral world.
