The Raine Study Information

Based in Perth, the Raine Study is the world's first three-generation pregnancy cohort study and one of the most successful population health studies ever undertaken. Since 1989, the Raine Study has studied the same group of nearly 3,000 young Western Australians from before they were born, their parents, grandparents and now offspring. Data from the Raine Study was used to establish international guidelines for ultrasound in pregnancy and continues to be used by researchers around the world to inform and improve public health policy. The Raine Study is a valuable resource for researchers in Australia and internationally. There are currently more than 150 researchers utilising the Raine Study, who bring expertise from 25 broad areas of research including; asthma and atopy, cardiovascular and metabolic heath, childhood developmental growth, dental health, diabetes, genetic epidemiology, gastro-enterology, infection and immunity, mental health, musculoskeletal development, nutrition, physical activity, ophthalmology, pregnancy and birth, reproductive health, sleep and risk taking behavior.
