Dance Factory has long been a leader in dance training and education since its inception in the 1980's. We were the first studio to offer full time commercial dance courses, the first to offer fully accredited commercial dance courses and become a Registered Training Organisation. With accreditation we opened a range of state and federal student supports to students, as well as a recognised higher education pathway. We were then the first to offer accredited commercial dance courses to international students and now in 2015, we offer the widest range of full and part time accredited dance, dance teaching and musical theatre courses in Australia. But what does all this mean to the student? It means that we can cater to the individual; provide dance education that exactly matches a person's standards and abilities, as well as their goals and intended career paths. This combined with our outstanding graduate history, which sees Dance Factory graduates performing in Asia, the West End and New York, not to mention teaching, choreographing and producing across Australia and internationally, means that Dance Factory still remains an Australian dance education leader. In 2016 the courses that Dance Factory offer are: * CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance
As a major champion of the arts in regional North Queensland, Dancenorth balances a dynamic regional presence with a commitment to creating compelling contemporary dance that tours the globe.
Dancenorth is one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies having presented work in over 35 International Arts Festivals and venues around Australia and the world and is an integral part of the Australian dance ecology making a significant contribution to the dance sector and building literacy around contemporary dance nationally.
Dancenorth empowers and supports artists by providing a creative hub for many artistic voices including a diverse range of choreographers, guest collaborators, artists in residence and dancers.
Alongside the professional ensemble and touring productions sits an equally vital pillar of focus, the Community Experience Projects. Driven by a dedicated team, Dancenorth works with diverse and minority communities across Queensland using dance to support, enhance, inspire and heal - bringing communities together.
Our approach is built on the ethics of collaboration and collision, authenticity, collegiality, discipline, care and love. Centred on an inclusive ethos of shared ownership, collective conscience, support, interconnection and empowerment, Dancenorth’s artistic philosophy provides a fertile framework which galvanises the company’s creative and administrative endeavours. Deeply connected to place, to the vastness of the sky, the richness of the land and the saline breath of the ocean, we embrace our regional home base in Townsville as a source of inspiration and creative energy. We respond to isolation as enabling, enriching and facilitating a way of making that is responsive to these people in this place at this time. Our aim is to nurture technical virtuosity, intellectual rigour and emotional presence in equal measure.
Dance Central offers an extensive range of dance classes and workshops for adults and teenagers at our centrally located Sydney studio.
