Startup Weekend Swansea is a 54 hour event which gives people the chance to make their business idea a reality. It's a high energy weekend, where you'll be able to meet new people, pitch an idea or join in with someone else's, and form a business...all over the space of two and a half days! Fueled by knowledge, passion, enthusiasm (and some great food and drink!), it's a fantastic way to launch a business idea. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. The event is open to anyone with or without a business idea; all you need is a desire to be part of a startup and work hard. Startup Weekend Swansea launched in 2013 and the two previous years have seen a total of 18 teams formed, with nine continuing to trade, well above the average Startup Weekend continuation rate of 35%. Held during Global Entrepreneurship Week, all teams have the opportunity to enter the Global Startup Battle, which in previous years have seen Swansea teams perform well, with Adlet winnning the Women's Circle in 2013 and Innovo and Kaboogle both reaching the final 15 in their categories in 2014.
