Springs Dance Information

Springs Dance offers excellent preparatory programs for students as young as 2 years old. Pre-Dance introduces toddlers and preschoolers to the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz in a playful environment designed to both inspire a love of dance and teach important classroom skills like listening to the teacher, forming a line, and taking turns! Pre-Dance programs for 2 year olds are parent participation classes and do require a parent to attend each class with the dancer. In programs for 3 year olds, dancers take class independently. Some 3 year old dancers are ready to participate in our core program Dance Fundamentals class. At your introductory lesson, your instructor will evaluate your child’s readiness and recommend the appropriate program. Am I too old to start dance? We believe no one is too old to begin the life-changing journey that is dance! Adult classes are available in levels appropriate for both experienced dancers and for absolute beginners. Many adult students in fundamentals (beginner level) classes have never danced before. If you do have previous dance experience, we may request that you attend a fundamentals class first to allow our instructors an opportunity to evaluate your ability and recommend the best level class for you. My child has previous experience â€" where do we begin? Before participating in group classes, all new students at Springs Dance will take a one-time semi-private introductory lesson. The lesson gives instructors an opportunity to introduce new dancers to the dance basics and to evaluate experienced dancers prior to recommending the appropriate level class within our program. Do you do recitals or other performances? Springs Dance produces two major dance performances annually; our June recital and our December “Urban Nutcracker.â€� Performing is a learned skill and we work hard to provide confidence building performance opportunities for our dancers. (Pre-Dance and Adult Fundamentals students do not usually participate in performances.) Preparing for performances helps dancers set short term goals to help focus their practice and provides a memorable reward for all their hard work. How long will it take to learn dance? Within a few weeks of classes, you’ll be feeling a lot more comfortable and may be surprised how much you’ve already learned â€" but it takes time to develop the strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination of a true dancer. Becoming a “dancerâ€� doesn’t happen in six weeks between soccer season and the next gymnastics season. The Colorado Academy is located at 4705 Centennial Blvd The academy is easily accessed from I-25. Exit Garden of the Gods and head West. Turn right on Centennial Blvd. The academy will be located on the East (Right) side of the street, across the parking lot from Marigolds. How much do classes cost? Springs Dance tuition rates will vary depending on program. Most students will make an initial down payment on the cost of a program with the remaining amount divided into monthly payments of the length of the program. Larger down payments or payments in full receive significant tuition discounts. We’ll create a tuition payment plan that will work conveniently for you.
