Our world is facing many huge challenges: socially, environmentally and economically. Since 2010 a small group of initiatives have been funded by the European Commission with the aim of creating mechanisms to address societal challenges, by bringing together a wide range of actor in order to develop mutual understanding and joint solutions. SiS Catalyst is one of these Mobilisation and Mutual Learning Action Plans (MMLs.) SiS Catalyst is based upon a very simple idea - that as children are the future, we must find ways of including them in the decisions of today. We are living in a world that is transforming; the technological advances and our global interconnectivity, enables the ripples of ideas to spread across the world in seconds. We believe that higher education institutions play a leading role in the global changes occurring - as hubs of creativity and vehicles for social justice, and that this role will be enhanced if they can include the perspectives of children within their development.
