Purple Labs was founded in 2001 and provided mobile software to the wireless industry. This was packaged in key components, or available as a complete customisable software solution. It allowed design houses, ODM’s and phone manufacturers to quickly address market demand and segment their customer offering. In June 2008, Purple Labs acquired the Client Software Business of Californian based Openwave Inc. This acquisition meant that Purple Labs served the top 5 mobile handset manufacturers in the world, who accounted for over 80% of global handset shipments. In late 2008 the company acquired the application business of Sagem Mobiles. Purple Labs merged with Esmertec in early 2009 and was renamed Myriad Group AG.
