Penticton & District Community Arts Council Information

The PDCAC acknowledges that we live, work, and play on the unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the Syilx-Okanagan Nation. 2020 marked the 60th anniversary of the Penticton & District Community Arts Council and our 40th anniversary as managers of the Leir House Cultural Centre. Through the Arts Matter Program we serve the people of the City of Penticton, Regional District Areas D, E & I, and tourists who visit year-round. We partner with artists and art groups for in-person exhibitions, festivals, markets, workshops, art walks, and performances. We are the liaison for our arts community with the Mayor and City Council, work with the Downtown Association, Chamber of Commerce, and tourism organizations to promote our local arts inside and outside our area, and work to create a healthy arts culture for Penticton & Area. We believe in reducing barriers to art-making and creativity to build a vibrant, flourishing, and sustainable artistic community for all and to this end have formed new partnerships with social service providers to increase our reach to marginalized and underserved populations. • Partnering with community on arts and cultural events • Promoting local arts and cultural events • Creating community connection and inclusion through the arts • Increasing opportunities for community members to interact with artists and art practices • Creating opportunities for artists and members of the public to work and volunteer with the PDCAC Mission Statement: The PDCAC's mission is to stimulate, foster, and celebrate arts and culture by creating a vibrant, flourishing, and sustainable arts community for the inclusion and benefit of all. We work to increase and broaden opportunities for the public enjoyment of and participation in cultural activities, while working closely with all levels of government to address the cultural needs of the Community.
