Open Kitchen is Greater Manchester's leading catering social enterprise. We intercept perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste, work with independent and ethical suppliers, and put all profits back into the local community. Our chefs work with recently intercepted ingredients to create fresh food from scratch based on what arrives. Where intercepted food doesn’t meet your needs, ingredients are sourced locally and ethically. To further our mission and share our learnings, we also offer talks, workshops, and education experiences to businesses. All profits and additional items we intercept are distributed to local community organisations, providing meals and ingredients to people facing food insecurity. And for every tonne of food that we stop from going to waste, we stop 4.2 tonnes of CO2e from being emitted, actively helping to lower Greater Manchester’s carbon footprint. We hope to highlight (and stop) problems within the food system. We want to drive a local, independent, sustainable and fair food system, owned by local people from all walks of life.
