New Canaan Mounted Troop Inc. (“NCMT”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to build leadership, responsibility and confidence in youth through sound horsemanship and to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities. The Troopers programs provide both Full Horsemanship and Equine Care instruction through a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience that emphasizes kindness, teamwork, respect, and accountability. The Therapeutic Program provides equine therapeutic services to children and adults with special needs, with the assistance of PATH International certified instructors and dedicated volunteers. NCMT has an ADA compliant facility that successfully accommodates students with disabilities. Troopers aged 14 and older are encouraged to volunteer for Super Troopers. NCMT exclusively relies on donated horses and ponies to provide our services and do not have any privately owned horses or ponies.
