NMA was designed to enhance student achievement in the arts through close collaboration with classroom teachers and professional artists who provide comprehensive, sequential arts education services and quality performances to schools in New York City. Teaching artists build relationships with students and schools and develop the basic skills of diverse art forms which include choral music, instrumental music, dance and theatre while discovering new and exciting approaches to education using the arts as a catalyst. What We Expect:NMA is a significant provider of custom made programs that address kinesthetic, cognitive, affective and aesthetic experiences fundamental to the development of the students served. We select highly skilled teaching artists and expect them to use and continue to learn about cutting edge approaches to get students excited about the arts and about learning in general.
