Founded in 1997, Teavana offers new tea enthusiasts and tea connoisseurs alike it’s “Heaven of Tea” retail experience where passionate and knowledgeable “Teaologists” engage and educate them about the ritual and enjoyment of tea. Great tea works wonders. The delicious tastes and health benefits make tea a wonderful beverage - much better than the unhealthy alternatives. The Teavana dream began with an idea that people would enjoy fresh, high-quality tea in a place that was part Tea Bar, part Tea Emporium. We wanted to introduce people to the aromas, textures, and beneficial qualities of loose leaf teas while enlightening them with the history and variety of teas available. And this is how Teavana was born.
As our name implies, Teavana's goal is to be a heaven of tea and to offer our customers the tea lifestyle and wonderful tastes of tea. This unique name is meant to describe the experience each customer has with our tea and our staff.
After considerable research, only those teas with rich and unique flavors are selected for Teavana. We opened our first tea emporium in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then we have opened over 300 Teavana locations throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. Since its acquisition in 2012, the Teavana team has been on a mission to do for tea what Starbucks has done for coffee. Our goal is to create a super-premium everyday tea ritual in the Americas and beyond, which will come to life in many channels, forms and experiences.
30 years ago in Salisbury, Connecticut, proprietor of the historic White Hart Inn, John Harney, developed a passion for fine teas. John was introduced to the world of tea by Stanley Mason, who turned to creating his own craft tea blends after years in the corporate world of tea. Over time, Mason taught John both the art and business of the craft.
Starting production out of his basement in 1983, John began his own journey in mastering the craft of tea blending. Serving his distinctive blends with inn guests, he soon found they were coming back for more. Never did John Harney imagine that his small home-run business in Salisbury, Connecticut would turn into a global operation, now headquartered in Millerton, New York filling 90,000 square feet of warehouse space, and employing over 155 people, making it one of the largest employers in the Hudson Valley. The company, which sources, blends, and packages their own product from start to finish, has grown from their original six teas, to more than three hundred. Their story truly captures the essence of American Business Ingenuity.
Harney & Sons was founded on a commitment to deliver customers the finest quality tea possible. This promise, made 30 years ago, serves as the company's guiding principle. Today, Harney & Sons Tea remains family owned and managed, with three generations of Harney's preserving John's tradition of fine tea and traveling the world in search of the finest ingredients.
We're on a mission to elevate tea for everyone. Inspired by our teahouse roots, we create delicious, refreshing kombucha and sparkling iced tea that bring quality, function, and flavor to more people every day. Driven by innovation and grounded in sustainability, we’re expanding what tea can be – without artificial shortcuts or compromise.
In 2003, founder Matt Thomas opened his first teahouse with a vision to bring together the many ways tea is enjoyed around the world. In 2008, that spirit of exploration led him to brew his first batch of kombucha in the kitchen of the teahouse, and Brew Dr. was born. Today, Brew Dr. focuses its tea efforts on raw, organic kombucha and sparkling low sugar iced teas crafted with real ingredients and bold flavor.
From our brewery in Oregon, we continue to push tea forward with products that are refreshing, functional, and rooted in authenticity.
Our motto, “Brew Right, Do Right,” reflects our commitment not only to quality beverages, but also to our communities, our people, and the planet. Brew Dr. is proud to be the first national kombucha company to become Scope 1 & 2 carbon neutral and a Certified B Corporation™️.
