Durham Public Schools is located in Durham, North Carolina. Durham Public Schools was formed in 1992 with the merger of Durham's previous two districts.
In collaboration with our community and parents, the mission of Durham Public Schools is to provide all students with an outstanding education that motivates them to reach their full potential and enables them to discover their interests and talents, pursue their goals and dreams, and succeed in college, in the workforce and as engaged citizens.
The Board of Education consists of seven (7) elected members. The Board of Education elects a chairperson and vice-chairperson to serve one-year terms. The superintendent of schools acts as an ex officio member of the board and serves as secretary of the board.
