Sensitivity to students' individual needs and learning styles help create a nurturing and joyful dance experience. Cognitive and social skills are developed along with heightened body-awareness and physical skills, heightened artistic sensibilities and creativity. Dance technique, grace, musicality and individual expression are emphasized throughout the various classes. Classes are geared both for aspiring professionals as well as for all people, to experience the richness of dance as a dynamic, natural and significant art form. Children Dancing was founded by Beth Jucovy in 1988. Ms. Jucovy teaches most of the classes, at times other highly qualified teachers teach specific techniques. Classes are run from two studios located in Great Neck, NY. Class offerings have evolved with the times, but the rich quality of the teaching and the philosophy has remained paramount. The school presents two annual performances. In January, they present a unique, delightful Nutcracker Tale and they present a year-end performance each June, which demonstrates student skills, expression and creativity. The Youth Company functions as a steppingstone into the professional world. The Youth Company has, at times, the opportunity to perform with the professional company, Dance Visions NY. They perform repertory suited for young dancers including the Isadora Duncan children's repertory, works specifically created for them, as well as their own choreography.
