When George Lorimer was only 21 years old, he took a leap into the unknown. After the tragic loss of his father, with a pint in one hand and his inheritance in the other, he decided to turn his fortunes around and start the journey that has become the Caledonian Brewery. Since then, we’ve been going strong for more than 140 years. Beer tastes and trends have never stood still and we’ve followed suit. One thing that hasn’t changed is that people still enjoy sharing their stories and adventures over a beer. We aim to carry on this tradition. As the longest standing brewery in Edinburgh, we’ve been on a quite a journey. We’ve suffered two calamitous blazes and been on the brink of closure. But we continue to focus on our beer, brewing up new experiences for people to enjoy. We use the finest ingredients we can find and the last open-fired brewing coppers of their kind in the UK. Staying true to our heritage, we created a pilot brewery ‘Wee George’ where two young brewers with a beer obsession develop some amazing craft brews. Discovering new beers to take us all on a journey of taste exploration. Whether you’re part of the brewing team, one of our customers or just enjoying one of our beers, Adventure Awaits with Caledonian Brewery.
