Pickering's Gin Information

Pickering's Gin was launched in the heart of the Scottish capital last year (March 2014), and is based at Summerhall - a creative hub and arts venue occupied by artists, inventors, musicians, artisans and entertainers. Summerhall Distillery is housed on the site of the old dog kennels in the former Small Animal Hospital. Pickering's Gin is based on an original recipe, handwritten on a fragment of paper dated 17 July 1947, and has been fine-tuned, perfecting its balance and tweaking it for today's contemporary palate. The beautifully crafted small batch gin contains 9 botanicals including juniper, coriander, cardamom and fennel. Pickering's Gin is distilled in a 500 litre still affectionately known as Gert. The gin's smoothness comes from the still's ingenious, custom-designed bain marie heating system. The botanicals enjoy a slow, luxurious simmer, which coaxes out their subtle, soft, highly drinkable flavours.
