CVME was established in 1982 by Philip Browning, initially carrying out servicing, repairs and modifications to commercial vehicles. In 1985, a customer operating several removal vans was unable to settle his account and asked if a removal van would be acceptable as payment. This was accepted, marking the start of the rental company as a spot-hire removal truck business. Over the years, CVME has added a range of vehicles to its growing fleet, which now consists of more than 650 vehicles. The fleet includes 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units, with some tractor units equipped with hydraulics to operate walking-floor trailers, bulk-tipping trailers and car-transporter trailers. The fleet also includes refrigerated box vans with tuck-away tail lifts, box vans and curtainsiders at 18,000kg and 7,500kg. There are also a number of 7,500kg vehicles with twin-sleeper cabs, as well as aluminium-constructed curtainsider and box van vehicles with a choice of tuck-away, column or cantilever tail lifts. In 2016, CVME added Nooteboom heavy-haulage low-loader trailers to its growing fleet. These were such a success that, in 2017, a range of Schmitz refrigerated single- and dual-temperature ATP trailers was added, with options for slide-out tail lifts. We operate a dedicated workshop for the fleet, covering general maintenance, servicing and safety inspections, truck and trailer refrigeration maintenance, cab and body damage repairs, vehicle body assembly, tail-lift maintenance, as well as a vehicle paint-spraying booth. Seven fully equipped service vans, carrying a comprehensive range of tools and fast-moving spare parts, provide on-site maintenance, servicing and safety inspections of trucks, along with tail-lift maintenance. They also provide nationwide on-site truck and trailer refrigeration service inspections and breakdown support, as well as tyre repair and replacement.
