We match volunteer befrienders with isolated older neighbours in the community to reduce loneliness for those over 65 years of age in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire. By visiting a neighbour once a week, befrienders may not only be the only person they engage with all week but there is also a reduced likelihood of onset of dementia, depression, coronary heart disease and visits to GP surgeries and A&E.
