Athens Piano School Information

Athens Piano School is a Community piano school, whose purpose is to shepherd students of all ages, aptitudes and musical interests through intellectual, emotional, and creative opportunities for growth and development by providing the finest piano instruction possible in a nurturing, supportive, caring and constructive atmosphere. Athens Piano School is focused solely on piano performance including solo, duet, accompanying, ensemble playing and related music theory and composing. Lessons are taught on an eight-foot artist grand piano in a large conservatory-styled studio salon. We are purposely a small school. We are not teaching 150 students in small closets, so there are no other students playing, visiting or distracting you during your lesson. Your time is only for you. The benefits of piano playing are numerous. The National Education Music Study (2007) showed that "children received more academic honors and awards than non-music students, and that the percentage of music participants receiving A's was higher than no-music participants. "High school students and adults receiving music lessons perform an average of 34% higher on reasoning, proportional thinking in time and space, verbal, math and science than peers who are not in music training. (Achievement Test Takers, College Board, 2009). From Bach, Beethoven and Brahms "black-tie" Classical Music to "blue jeans and t-shirt" Rock, Jazz and Blues to everything in between, Athens Piano School is committed to teaching piano to little kids just wanting to learn simple songs, to the serious pre-collegiate piano performance major interested in classical competitions, UGA students and beginning, returning or experienced adults.
