The indigenous community of this nation continues to confront systemic racism, structural inequality, and oppression from government. The COVID-19 crisis has only exacerbated inequities faced by the Native American community, and with the recent pain from killings of Black and Native American people, these challenges have only compounded upon economic uncertainty and a lack of health care on reservations. Over the next few weeks, we at The Woape Foundation will be spearheading efforts to confront one of the legacies of oppression, differential response to COVID-19, which has devastated Native communities.
