The Wild Bird Trust (WBT) family is a group of a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to the conservation of wild birds and their habitats. But we have evolved to being more than that... We work towards the protection of endangered and endemic species, the preservation of habitats, and the education of the public about the importance of wild birds and all endemic species in our ecosystems. Founded in 2009 by Dr Steve Boyes with the Cape Parrot Project as its flagship project, WBT expanded and localised its work in order to focus on various conservation initiatives including the National Geographic Okavango Wilderness Project. Protecting the source waters of the Okavango Delta is one of the most critical conservation challenges in Africa. Time is of the essence. Since 2015, the National Geographic Okavango Wilderness Project (NGOWP) has been working with local communities, NGOs, and the governments of Angola, Namibia, and Botswana to secure permanent, sustainable protection for the Okavango Basin.
