“Blue Bottle is coffee and people. Not necessarily in that order.”
—James Freeman, Founder
In our eyes, coffee’s main purpose is to be delicious. We go to great lengths to source, roast, taste, and prepare coffee so our guests can enjoy it at peak deliciousness.
We know that good coffee depends on strong community. We work directly with farmers around the world to source our coffees as sustainably and ethically as we can. We hire team members who are dedicated to creating beautiful experiences with coffee.
From the farm to the cafe, our coffee is handled by people who care.
Stumptown was started with the goal of doing things differently, with a vision that’s always been a little left-of-center, and with the focus squarely on quality.
We source the best coffees in the world and strive to maintain transparent, quality-based relationships with our farmers along the way. From plant to portafilter, we pay homage to these folks through our own fervent attention to detail at every step, quality control in our cupping labs, meticulous roasting profiles and extensive barista education.
We are committed to the well-being of everyone we work with, from the farmers and the communities they live in, to our employees and communities here in the States. We value our relationships with our customers, growers, and each other. With our roastery facility in Portland, multiple cafes, and fantastic wholesale partnerships around the country, we think there’s a lot to be proud of here.
We've been roasting coffee in Seattle since 1995. We are an independent, locally-owned company, focused on making connections through coffee. From our beginnings at the base of Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood, Caffe Vita now operates nine cafes in Seattle, Phoenix, and New York.
We are pioneers of the Farm Direct movement, meticulously sourcing the best coffee available while developing long-term, mutually fruitful relationships with coffee growers in more than 11 countries. We work with and invest in farmers who are committed to sustainable practices.
By creating an environment where the customer can see, touch, and taste the coffee they purchase, we provide a unique learning opportunity that allows our coffee to speak for itself. Caffe Vita is always fresh, imported directly from the farm and roasted on-site.
