WAVE Trust is dedicated to reducing violence in our society by tacking its root causes, particularly child abuse and neglect which are the main causes of teenage and adult violence. Children have the right to experience happy childhoods, where the well-being they experience builds their resilience and is a foundation for a happy and fulfilled life. However, we know that the trauma caused by adverse childhood trauma (toxic stress) is at the heart of many problems in our society today. This is a global social and health crisis. WAVE Trust uses its experience and expertise to work with policy makers, to develop and pioneer research-based solutions and to share what works to transform the futures of children, breaking cycles of disadvantage. We believe that by implementing economically viable and effective programmes this cycle can be broken, children grow up happier and society becomes a safer place. We believe it is possible to reduce child maltreatment in the UK by 70% by the year 2030. We were founded by successful business strategists with expertise in psychology and clinical criminology, and have achieved a great deal over the last 26 years by applying strict business principles to the problems of child abuse, neglect and violence.
