The innovation is in the form of an application, which users can download for free on their mobile devices. It allows two different types of users; customers and staff members. Each type of user has specific functionalities available to them. The customers can place reservations for an order, from where ever they are, and collect their food from the respective restaurant/shop. The staff members of the app can view the orders made by customers and set the status of the order. This app addresses two issues: the waiting time between ordering food and actually receiving it, and customers waiting in line – in close proximity to one another. The former issue is solved trivially. The app offers full functionality, provided the user has an internet connection. This means that ordering food on the app, then arriving at the restaurant/shop at the chosen date and time will ensure that there is no need to wait for your food. The latter problem is the main issue that this application addresses and resolves. With Covid-19 showing no signs of regression, it is of paramount importance that we practise social distancing as a society. Shops and restaurants being crowded is an inevitability, but it does not necessarily need to be a risk. Many times, the root of a crowd at University shops is the long queues of students waiting to buy their lunch or simply a snack. This app offers a way to eliminate that factor completely, by students having placed an order beforehand with ease. Of course, the onus is on the individual shops to handle individual customers appropriately, by keeping track of the incoming orders and having them ready by the desired time.
