UTS Jitsu Information

Franck is our lead instructor, and began his martial arts journey when he was 14 years old in Bordeaux, France. He practised Mushin Ryu Ju-Jutsu until he moved to the UK where he trained in Shorinji Kan Jiu-Jitsu to his black belt with The Jiu-Jitsu Foundation. In 2014, after moving to Sydney, Franck founded Sydney Jitsu, which has branched into UTS Jitsu in 2017. He is dedicated to student progress and consolidating the knowledge behind the technique. Franck seeks to bring awareness to this growing sport and is constantly striving to hone his art. Franck also has experience in Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and other Ju-Jutsu styles. Simon started Jitsu in 2000 under the teachings of Sensei Nigel and Nicola Price at the Kings College Jitsu Club, London. He opened St Thomas Jitsu Club in London in June 2005 and graded to Shodan in 2007. Back in Australia, he joined UTS Jitsu and has been covering Wednesday sessions since circa 2017. Simon has interests in self-defence and fighting skills, which is demonstrated by his trademark Simons slap. Flo has started Jitsu in 2014 in our old dojo, at our very first indoor session (we were Sydney Jitsu back then). He has then trained non-stop, sometimes in 1:1 session with Sensei Franck when we did not have as many students. His dedication has led him to acquire his brown belt in June 2019, awarded by no less than Sensei Steve Donaghy (nanadan from London, UK). He has since then ensured session coverage at UTS Jitsu and subsequently received his hakama. Sensei Flo is really enthusiastic about teaching and fitness, you know youll learn and sweat when he is around! James started with Sensei Simon Brooks at St Thomas, London in 2007. After coming back to Australia, he was able to train at a local Jitsu club that unfortunately closed a couple of years down the line. In 2014, he got aware of Sydney Jitsu opening and keenly got back into training, leading to his grading to instructor grade, brown belt, in June 2019 during Sensei Steve Donaghys visit.
