Unexpected Records Information

Unexpected Records is an Amsterdam-based label founded in March 2001 by composer/producer Perquisite, who was 18 years old at the time. The label's primary goal was, and still is, to release authentic, mostly groove-based music. As the label's director and curator, Perquisite releases not only his own music but also the work of artists he feels align with the Unexpected-sound. A wide range of genres has been covered so far, ranging from HipHop and Electronic music to Soul, Jazz and Indie. Over the years, Unexpected Records had the pleasure to release, amongst others, the music of Pete Philly & Perquisite, Arts The Beatdoctor, Kris Berry & Perquisite, and Jeangu Macrooy—the official Dutch representative at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. The most recent signing is the Alternative R&B artist Swan.
