The Unconventional Distillery was born from a love of rum, a passion for food and drink and a talent for mixing flavours. There is a gap in the market for new rum products that are different, flavoursome and exciting. We could tell you about our first rums to be launched... but it’s top secret right now... However I can tell you that there will be a ‘Botanically distilled premium craft English rum’. Based in Hykeham, our distillery is equipped so that we can do the whole distillation process from start to finish, allowing much more control over the finished product. The owner, Sam Owen, is an award-winning chef in Lincolnshire and uses his skills to combine flavours, experiment with distillation techniques and think outside the box. We want our customers to be ‘pioneers’ that help grow this new brand and we believe in being you. Whoever, whenever, wherever you want to enjoy our rum, that’s good with us! Drink our rum straight, on the rocks, or with a mixer or in a cocktail. However you like it. The Unconventional Distillery Co. will be launching this summer with two new rums, so stay tuned on social media! We will be running more focus groups and tastings in August and you are welcome to join us! Our big launch is in September at the Lincoln Castle! The mantra of the brand is “Aut inveniam viam aut faciam”, translated as “I shall either find a way, or make one”. The idea is to ‘be you’ and not to follow the crowd. The rum wants to be enjoyed in the way that the drinker wants and not how society says things should be done. Instead of customers, Unconventional sees consumers as ‘pioneers’ who can champion the brand and help it to grow, whilst enjoying how unique and well-blended the rums are.
