We are strong advocates for our members, helping safeguard their ability to provide safe, reliable and affordable electric service. Cooperative Energy generates and transmits electricity for 11 Member distribution systems across Mississippi. Cooperative Energy and these 11 distribution systems, collectively known as the Power of 12, provide power to more than 445,000 homes and businesses across the state, serving more than 1 million Mississippians. The distribution systems are connected to our generation sources by 1,812 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. Cooperative Energy generates electricity with a diverse mix of coal, natural gas, solar and nuclear resources. Cooperative Energy serves as the only not-for-profit wholesale electric power provider headquartered in Mississippi. We employ over 450 skilled and professional employees, all of whom are focused on providing safe, affordable, and reliable electricity to the 11 Member systems we serve. Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA) is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative created out of the need for reliable, affordable electricity in America's heartland. We don't have customers, we have members. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, WVPA provides wholesale power to 21 distribution cooperatives in Indiana and Illinois that serve over 284,000 residential and business members (which makes us a co-op of co-ops). In other words, we're not selling electricity to customers and we're not working for shareholders. We're providing electricity to members who are actually owners. And we are guided by the seven principles that govern all co-ops. Our unique approach to supplying electricity has positioned us for years of very competitive electric rates. By using a variety of fuel sources to supply electricity, such as coal, natural gas, nuclear, landfill gas, solar and wind, we manage our risk for more predictable rates, no matter what the future holds. From our role in establishing ACES, Touchstone Energy®, and MISO to developing highly successful POWER MOVES(R) energy efficiency programs and Co-op Solar, WVPA continues to look to the future to deliver stability and growth.
