The artisans of TIMBERWOOL, Steve and Linda Anderson, were married August 8, 1998. As established artisans in their respective fields of wood and fiber, they combined their efforts into one business form, TIMBERWOOL. World renowned wood carver, Steve Anderson, has been sculpting professionally for over twenty years. As one of the most prolific carvers in the Northwest, he has created over ten-thousand wood carvings. Sought after and collected, his work can be found from coast to coast and around the world, including twenty-four states and nine countries. His medium is exclusively salvaged or recycled California Redwood. Each piece of wood is carefully selected to accentuate the natural beauty of grain, shape, and size. Steve's wood carvings methodology includes chainsaws, grinders, sanders, hand sanding, and finishing. A self-taught, natural artist, Steve began his career at Korbly Woodworks, in Miranda, California, and spent nearly two decades as the resident carver at The Grandfather Tree, in Piercy, California. Steve now works in his Eureka studio focusing on two themes close to his heart, dogs and boats. Linda Sheldon Anderson, having grown up on a dairy farm in Vermont, has appreciated the value and warmth of wool all her life. She began knitting at the age of four under the tutelage of he mother, later moving on to crochet. An award winning spinner, Linda often incorporates her own hand spun yarn into her work. In 1984, she acquired a true double bed "Passap" machine knitting loom, on which she produces knitwear including scarves, hats, socks, afghans, and layettes. Beyond the web, Linda has marketed her fine knitwear at The Mateel Art Cooperative, in Garberville, California, and at numerous art and craft fairs. As an enthusiastic aficionado of the finest in natural fibers, Linda can create warm, fuzzy, usable, and unique knitwear just for you.
