The Representation Project (TRP) is a pioneering movement dedicated to the power of transformative storytelling. We challenge the debilitating influence of gender stereotypes and norms, shedding light on the role they play in all forms of oppression. We work to awaken public consciousness, shift cultural attitudes, and transform behavior through impactful films, deliberate communications, education, and activism. Our mission is to build a world where all people can achieve their potential and be seen for their full humanity. Jennifer Siebel Newsom founded The Representation Project, a 501(c)(3), in 2011 in response to the overwhelming public demand for ongoing education and social action in support of her first film, Miss Representation. Since then, The Representation Project released Newsom’s second film, The Mask You Live In, and third film, The Great American Lie. The organization has become well known for creating popular social media activism campaigns such as #NotBuyingIt, #AskHerMore, and #RepresentHer.
