Established in 1942, TANE attained cult status from the 1960s as it became a luxury stop-off for celebrities and collectors alike. Since then the company has been flourishing, while remaining true to its values. TANE proudly develops and manufactures all of its jewelry, silverware, sculptures as well as items from the Casa TANE label in-house, and by hand. In 2010 TANE was acquired by Grupo BAL, owner of high-end department store chain El Palacio de Hierro; Mexico's largest insurance company GNP and Peñoles/Fresnillo, owner and operator of the world's largest silver mine. Today TANE owns and operates a network of 25+ stores across Mexico, including a spectacular flagship in Polanco designed by Ricardo Legorreta, a store on Avenida Altavista in the heart of San Angel and various boutiques inside the iconic El Palacio de Hierro department stores across the country.
