Switch Radio is an award-winning Birmingham community radio station and not-for profit company broadcasting 24/7 on 107.5 FM and DAB across Birmingham and Solihull, online, via Smart speaker, and the Radioplayer app. Switch is proud to be made for Birmingham by local volunteers and combines national and local music with local news, sport, and information about local events and services. Every hour we spotlight West Midlands charitable organisations on our Midlands Magazine feature and play new and established Birmingham music as per our Midlands Music Guarantee. Our dedicated sports team provide weekly home and away commentary of local men’s and women’s football, and many other sports. Based in the heart of Castle Vale’s disadvantaged community, where skills and aspirations are low, our vision is for an inclusive community radio station where locals can access free Media Training, work experience and opportunities to improve aspirations, pathways to work, and job prospects; and can volunteer to support mental health and wellbeing, have fun, learn new skills, and meet new people. Our aims are to: Help plug the gap in Media training and volunteer opportunities for local people to help them gain confidence and employability skills as a pathway to work Help local people proactively support their health and wellbeing by providing volunteer opportunities to learn new skills, have fun, and find friends We have 100 volunteers and in 2024 were delighted to win the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (pictured). We have also won eleven Community Radio Awards and Best Radio Station twice at the Birmingham Music Awards. A recent listenership study, funded by Ofcom's Radio Fund, showed we are being heard by more than 24,500 local people.
