Sugartown Publishing was launched in 2012 when an out-of-work book and publications professional decided to help 98-year-old Benjamin Slomoff get his first book into print. Based in Crockett, California (location of the C&H Sugar Plant), Jannie M. Dresser and Sugartown have published 20 books of poetry and one memoir. This year marks its 5 th anniversary, a genuine feat of surviving in difficulty times not only for publishing and book-marketing but, as always, for poets and poetry. In 2015, Sugartown was voted "Best Local Publisher" in the East Bay Express' "Best-of-the Bay Area" contest. Books can be purchased at each event, from the authors, through Sugartown's website.
