Stichting Co Cycling is in januari 2014 te Amsterdam opgericht als initiatief van zes medisch studenten. Zij hebben het idee gevat om een wielerevenement voor medici, co-assistenten en medisch personeel te organiseren om op die manier een goed doel te ondersteunen. In juni 2014 heeft de Stichting haar eerste evenement georganiseerd. Vanwege het grote succes en de positieve reacties heeft de Stichting besloten om voor 2015 weer een nieuwe editie van de Co Cycling tour te organiseren.
