Were proud to provide State College and the surrounding region with an interesting, timely and fun monthly magazine that brings together great people, ideas and events. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of getting to know a lot of wonderful people from our areayoung and old. This is our opportunity to introduce ourselves to you! Marlene Sample has been in the publishing business for more than 30 years. She and her husband, George, own several newspapers and shoppers throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire and New York. State College Magazine and Pennsylvania Business Central were acquired by the Sample Media group in 2007. These two publications, along with The Bargain Sheet, are housed in the Vallamont Building, 1001 University Drive. As a 1973 Penn State grad, she is loyal to all that is Penn State Proud. She grew up in Pine Grove Mills and graduated from State College Area High School in 2011. Shes a Penn State alumna, with degrees in journalism and English. Chad Cowder joined State College Magazine in 2019, bringing multiple years of publishing design experience to the team. He grew up in neighboring Clearfield County but has lived in State College for almost 20 years. Hes a Penn State alumnus, with a degree in studio art.
