Through a rigorous and integrated program of academic, spiritual, and co-curricular activities, SI challenges its students to lead lives of faith, integrity, and compassion. Students are enriched by a diverse and loving Christian community and are called to become life-long learners who develop their individual talents for the greater glory of God. With a commitment to intellectual excellence, leadership, service, and justice, we strive to be men and women with and for others, responding courageously to the opportunities and challenges of our time.
San Domenico, a coed K-8 day school and coed 9–12 day and boarding school just north of San Francisco, is California's oldest independent school. At SD we believe that what students do with their education is just as important as their academic performance. Every day we encourage our students to not just study, but also to reflect on their learning, find their purpose, and celebrate in community, because an exceptional education, where values and academics join together, creates more than just great students—it develops great people.
Our community is comprised of families of many faiths including Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc., as well as families who do not follow any particular faith but appreciate the value of discovering a sense of the sacred in its many manifestations.
As a K-12 day school with an international and regional boarding program option for Upper School students, one of the unique aspects of an SD education is our diverse student body. With a far-reaching private bus system, we enroll boys and girls from regions throughout Marin, San Francisco, Napa, the South Bay, and around the world.

Shady Hill School is an independent, co-educational day school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1915, Shady Hill serves students in pre-kindergarten (called 'Beginners) through 8th grade. The school has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. Current Shady Hill Head of School Mark Stanek became the school's sixth director in 2010.
A teaching approach called Central Subject is the fundamental organizing force behind Shady Hill's curriculum. It is a year-long study around which each grade, III - VIII, focuses its work in history, literature, geography, and writing. It is the study of a people, a period of history, an idea or movement. It is a way of organizing subject matter that is flexible, inclusive, frequently changing in its application, yet constant in its commitment to certain approaches to study.
