Scotch Oakburn College is an independent school in Launceston, Tasmania, offering exceptional educational opportunities for young people from Early Learning (3 years) to Year 12 and boarding from Year 6 onwards. The College has approximately 1300 students, with boarding for around 80 students. A Uniting Church School, Scotch Oakburn has established a reputation for excellence in academic standards, sporting and cultural arenas and in education outdoors. The Hutchins School is located approximately five kilometres from the CBD of Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city, and twenty minutes from the Hobart airport. The main campus lies on the slopes of Mount Nelson, overlooking the picturesque River Derwent. It is adjacent to the University of Tasmania. Its facilities are extensive and include modern classrooms, science and computer laboratories, three libraries, a performing arts centre, a chapel and the student residence. The Outdoor Education Centre is located at Southport, approximately 100km south from Hobart on the edge of the World Heritage Wilderness. Hutchins has one turf cricket wicket, four turf cricket nets, three playing fields, a well-equipped gymnasium, two weights training rooms, one fully equipped rowing ergo training facility and six tennis courts. The School’s sail training boat Aurora is used for outdoor programs on the River Derwent, which also forms the backdrop for rowing events. Hutchins is a founder-member of the International Coalition of Boys’ Schools, a member of the Independent Schools of Tasmania and a member of the global school network Round Square. The Headmaster is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia. The Friends' School is a pre-K to 12 co-educational day and boarding school in Hobart, Australia. The Friends' School opened in 1887 under the control of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and is based on Quaker values.
