Spiracle Audiobooks Information

Spiracle is a British audiobook platform and mobile app. Founded by Kate Bland, Radio Producer, Leigh Wilson, English Literature Academic and Quentin Ellis, Digital Strategist, who have worked together to make an independent alternative to Audible. Launched in 2022, the business grew from the idea that finding an audiobook could feel as natural and alive as stepping into your favourite independent bookshop. Spiracle serves a defined and growing audience who we call ‘active choosers’. These are readers who actively choose; who prefer to browse, explore and who value insider recommendations. We are first to market with Audiobook in a Card™ which makes audiobooks a proper gift. It puts the book back into audiobooks and audiobooks into bookshops across the UK and beyond, where they can be discovered afresh and shared with friends. Customers redeem their digital audiobook through the Spiracle experience. This also presents an expansion of the industry; it gives publishers new places to offer and market their audiobooks. We launch Spiracle 2.0 in September 2026. This next stage sees a major expansion of audiobooks available.
