Spiracle is an audiobook platform and mobile app positioned for growth within a fast-expanding sector. It is a new arrival to a market dominated by global giants. Launched in 2022, the business was born from the simple idea that discovering an audiobook could feel as natural and alive as stepping into your favourite independent bookshop. In a world driven by algorithms, advertising and AI noise, people crave human connection, quiet curiosity and the joy of real discovery. Accessibility, convenience, multi-tasking and portability are all contributing to the growth of the audiobook industry. Catalogues are expanding so that increasingly printed books have their audio counterpart. Reading in audio has also increased rapidly as a premium extension of podcast listening, yet the crucial ‘discovery’ factor has been overlooked. Spiracle serves a defined and growing audience who we call ‘active choosers’. These are readers who actively choose; who prefer to browse, explore and who value insider recommendations. We are first to market with an innovative new product: Audiobook in a Card, a physical gateway into into digital audiobooks. This mechanism opens the industry to booksellers, smaller publishers and other retailers. It is crucial to our mission. We sell audiobooks for all publishers and where we can, we co-publish audiobooks with the UKs smaller, independent presses. Currently developing Spiracle 2.0: mobile app first, leading in audiobook discovery, with community interaction and cultural depth. Murmurations, our literary resource, will offer members podcasts, archive and events.
