South Niagara Rowing Club Information

Founded in 1976, the South Niagara Rowing Club's mission is to bring new participants of all ages into the sport of rowing, to develop their fitness, athleticism and rowing skills and to further their interest, involvement and achievement in rowing. The South Niagara Rowing Club trains on 7-lane wide 4,000 metre stretch on an abandoned and well protected stretch of the Welland Canal – which is also serves as the South Course of the Welland International Flatwater Centre. The club has a solid and growing membership of approximately 100+ competitive members (juniors, U23 / Senior and Masters) and introduces the sport of rowing to an additional 150+ members every season. The club also continues to work towards its strategic plan known as Vision 2020. The club realized that it needed a clear vision and common goals in order to have long term success. As part of this plan, the following strategic priorities were developed and are always used in guiding the club forward: Inclusivity: Foster an inclusive and accessible environment which recognizes the value of all current members, alumni and community partners. Excellence: Commit to excellence in conducting all club activities including athlete/coach development, event execution and promotion of the club. Sustainability: Actively pursue opportunities to strengthen the foundation of the club through expansion of funding, growth in membership, and facility improvements. Integrity: Provide leadership and internal governance that is open, responsible and accountable to all of our stakeholders. The SNRC also continues to be very successful with its approach to corporate sponsorship. The program provides a range of support opportunities which can be tailored to the align with the capabilities and needs of our corporate partners, thereby developing long standing and successful partnerships. 2017 marked the 5th year of this program with 17 corporate sponsors (15 returning).
