As the name would imply, we are passionate about ski mountaineering. We are also passionate about service and we specialize in mouting tech-bindings and fitting alpine-touring boots. Our skill is internationally recognized as we've been named a Dynafit Competence Center and a Plum Center. This means we are the place to go for professional, competent service. Born in the foothills of the Wasatch range in Salt Lake City, Utah, Skimo Co is dedicated to finding, testing, and servicing quality ski mountaineering products from around the world. We want to enable skiers to escape the overcrowding at environmentally unfriendly ski resorts and enjoy the mountains in their natural state. More and more people are realizing that waiting in lift lines to fight over quickly skied-out runs is not worth $50 to $100 or more a day. As any backcountry convert will attest, the best ski turns are the ones you earn. Technology is now sufficiently advanced to allow a wide variety of people to experience the freedom that backcountry skiing entails. Whether peak bagging or just going for a leisurely lap in unadulterated terrain, skiers can now accomplish their missions quickly and safely with reliable lightweight gear that is progressing at an astonishing rate. With a relatively small investment in equipment and avalanche education, skiers can spend a lifetime exploring pristine terrain and slaying fresh powder at their own pace. From citizen series skimo races to unheralded solo dawn patrols, we are excited about the future of ski mountaineering in North America. We think North American racers can do well when ski mountaineering becomes an official Olympic sport, and we hope to do our part in supporting them. However, we realize that lasting success starts with local feedback loops created when skiers venture past the ropes for the first time.
