City Brewing Company is a premier, state-of-the-art beverage production and packaging company. Our four locations in La Crosse, WI, Latrobe, PA, Memphis TN and Irwindale, CA provide facilities capable of manufacturing and packaging beers, teas, soft drinks, energy drinks and other new age beverages. Our packaging capacity makes us one of the largest beverage producers in the country.
On December 2, 1987, brothers Russ and Jim Klisch opened Lakefront Brewery and sold their first batch of beer to a neighborhood tavern in Milwaukee. Now, we’re one of Wisconsin’s largest craft breweries and on pace to produce over 50,000 barrels in 2016. We currently offer more than 20 different beers with distribution in over 30 states, Australia, Canada, South Korea, and Ukraine.
Our pioneering spirit has earned us numerous awards and created many industry firsts. Among these: Riverwest Stein winning Gold for American-Style Amber Lager at the 2016 L.A. International Beer Competition, the first certified organic beer (Organic E.S.B.), and the first gluten-free beer granted label approval by the U.S. Government (New Grist).
Our tours are among the most popular in the U.S.; over 100,000 people tour the brewery each year. It’s one of the first—if not the first—to offer beer at the beginning, during, and after the tour instead of requiring guests to wait until the end. We're down-to-earth, hard-working and brewed in Milwaukee for people who like beer.
Highland Brewing Company is the largest independent, family-owned brewery native to the Southeast. Since 1994, we’ve been brewing beers that honor tradition while exploring new, innovative styles that continue to shape Southern craft culture.
Our story began when Oscar Wong—Chinese-Jamaican immigrant, retired engineer, and Asheville’s “godfather of craft beer”—founded Highland in the basement of Barley’s Taproom using repurposed dairy equipment. His daughter, Leah Wong Ashburn, joined the company in 2011 and now leads Highland as President/CEO, carrying forward her father’s vision of community, and quality.
Today, Highland operates a 40-acre campus in East Asheville, having transforming a former film studio into a true destination brewery with a production facility, expansive indoor Taproom, outdoor Meadow, five sand volleyball courts, an 18‑hole disc golf course, and unique event spaces—including a mountain-view Rooftop.
Our guests and customers love a high-quality beer crafted in a place they care about, by a company unapologetically committed to its values and community impact. We’re inspired by this Thirst for Good.
