Harvest Kitchen is a full-service, rustic elegant catering company specializing in weddings, large event production, and film. Serving seasonal, organic, locally sourced dishes incorporating pastured proteins, and sustainable seafood. Offering paleo, gluten-free, and vegan friendly dishes to suit todays evolved dietary lifestyles. We also have a badass food truck available to cater certain events.
Our mission is to offer delicious, fresh wholesome dishes, freshly made juices, salads, sandwiches, soups, entrees and desserts…all organic and at affordable prices.
Wherever possible, we rely on only the best quality local produce. In many cases, food has been growing only a day or two before it is served to our customers. When it is not available locally, we search the globe in our quest for the best organic, natural or artisan quality ingredients as reflected in our coffees, teas, and spirits.
Our recipes combine a healthy set of ingredients in order to provide the utmost in taste, and nutritional value. We are organic wherever possible and are constantly striving to source the very few non-organic ingredients on our menu.
Life Cafe now offers a full menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch with a full bar. The sidewalk cafe offers the opportunity to people-watch and enjoy Tompkins Square Park. Some of the original artists and regulars from the old days still stop by to say hello. David Life drops in for a bite now and then. While the art performances and art shows of the 80s have ended, today Life Cafe shows the brilliant chalk-talk drawings of Kathy's new husband, John G. Sunderland, a designer, writer and artist. The original East Village café introduced a sister in Brooklyn in 2002. Both serve moderately-priced classic regional American comfort food that includes the now-signature vegetarian and vegan fare in a relaxed and casual setting. The distinctive atmosphere, friendly staff and social intermingling, reminiscent of the original days 25 years ago, sets these eateries apart from all others. Life Cafe is fortunate and grateful to be immortalized in Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize winning play RENT that has been playing to sold-out audiences on Broadway since 1996. In 2005 it was made into a major motion picture from Columbia Pictures directed by Chris Columbus. Jonathan was one of those artists who found shelter at Life Cafe, sipping coffee while writing his masterpiece. His is just one Life Cafe story.
