CSSP - Berlin Center for Integrative Mediation is a registered NGO in Germany. The organisation is headquartered in Berlin, with local offices in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organisation was founded in 2005 as a "Lessons Learned" project, which drew lessons from Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling's work as the International Mediator in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995 - 2004). Integrative Mediation originated as a methodology from Prof. Dr. Schwarz-Schilling and his advisory team. The approach has evolved over the years and is further developed by members of the CSSP Team. From 2005 until 2010, CSSP worked primarily in the post-war Balkans (Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia (FYROM) and Serbia). During the last two years, CSSP's outreach expanded to transitional societies in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and to South Asia (Nepal). The CSSP Team develops its approach together with local stakeholders. We rely upon local capacities and skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution. Within this framework, CSSP supports various stakeholders and conflict parties in their efforts to discuss issues of concern, build trusting relationships, and develop sustainable solutions. In addition, CSSP promotes capacity building in non-violent communication, negotiation and mediation. In our experience, these are fundamental components of conflict resolution, systemic change and democratic structures. In short, CSSP uses and offers dialogue fascilitation, mediation, consultation, mediation support, round tables as well as training, coaching/ supervision and advocacy in contributing to durable, local peace-building efforts and social transformations. CSSP operates multi-track, working with political and community leaders on different tracks, influential academics, religious and NGO leaders as well as with civil society actors, individuals, business communities and media representatives. Additionally, CSSP tries to reach out to international actors in order to draw attention to local developments and initiatives, gather support and promote cooperation.
TransformEd partners with school systems to support educators in fostering the development of the whole child so that all students, particularly those from underserved populations, can thrive. At TransformEd, we envision a future in which all students become thriving adults, able and empowered to lead personally meaningful lives and to contribute to their communities.
We partner with school and system leaders to identify and implement evidence-based practices and policies that create positive learning environments and support students’ social-emotional development.
* Prioritize: TransformEd engages with educators to identify the priorities and assets of their community, set a
strategy for supporting the whole child, and recommend corresponding measurement tools that are
appropriate for their context.
* Integrate: TransformEd partners with educators to turn data into action plans, facilitate impactful professional
development, and curate evidence-based resources related to whole child development.
* Continuously Improve: TransformEd empowers educators to learn from and with their colleagues, engage in
continuous improvement, and build the systems and structures needed to sustain their commitment to whole
child development.
As we do this work, we draw from research, best practice, and the input of diverse stakeholders; then we apply and share what we’re learning around three key questions:
1. How can the practices, systems, structures, and environment of a school foster students’ social-emotional
development?
2. How can researchers and practitioners learn from one another in order to accelerate improvements in student
outcomes?
3. What are the most effective ways to prompt a paradigm shift towards schools developing the whole child?
