At Sama, we believe that giving work is the most powerful solution to ending global poverty. We use technology and private sector methods in new ways to measurably improve access to dignified work and job training for people who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Since 2008, Sama has grown three successful programs: Samasource, Samaschool, and Samahope, which is now part of Johnson & Johnson’s new global health platform, CaringCrowd. We’ve also helped cultivate a new industry, Impact Sourcing, the idea of deliberately giving work to people in need. Impact Sourcing is using sourcing practices--your company’s labor and procurement engine--to create positive social change. To date, we’ve moved nearly 30,000 people out of poverty through this model.
