Rudi International Information

Rudi International ("Rudi" stands for "come back" in Swahili) is an organization with at its heart the goal to bring young Africans on the continent and those of the diaspora together for them to work hand in hand on the development of the African continent. We are inciting them to take part to the development of Africa through concrete actions on the ground. Founded in July 2011 by two Congolese brothers Arsene Tungali (@arsenebaguma) and Alain Rafiki (@alainrafiki), Rudi is based in Goma, serving the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Our programs include: - Rudi Education: a sponsorship program, supporting nearly 90 primary and secondary students since 2012. We cover their tuition and provide after school activities. Read more at www.facebook.com/RudiEducation - Encourage Mothers: our trauma healing and Christian counseling program serving over 40 women in Lac Vert, providing a safe space for healing conversations. Most of these women are the mothers of our sponsored kids. Most of them have either been raped, faced rejection by their husbands or have lost their children due to war and conflict. We currently develop income-generating activities (including a sewing project) as a way to help them get a living, providing for their own families. - ICT Programs: Rudi is the main organization in the DRC working at the intersection of technology and human rights. We focus our work on capacity building, research and advocacy covering a range of issues such as digital rights, Internet freedom issues and supporting the country in its digital transformation.
