ROMO Wind is a technology based product and service company building its business on a unique, patented, wind measurement technology: The iSpin technology. It is a fact that the wind sensors currently installed in the turbulence on the nacelle roof of wind turbines notoriously have difficulties monitoring the turbine performance including the directions of the wind hitting the rotor. The nacelle sensor location is therefore highly impractical, but it has so far been the only technical and economical solution available. Consequently, wind turbine owners today – in contrast to owners of e.g. gas and coal plants – cannot accurately monitor the performance of their wind power plants, and consequently they have problems assessing the effect of improvements or to intervene when deteriorations of the wind turbine function occur. The poor wind direction measurement furthermore leads yaw misalignments, which causes significant reduced energy production as well as increased loads leading to extra turbine repairs. The ROMO iSpin technology changes this picture. ROMO wind has using the iSpin technology on so far 67 wind turbines shown that 6 out of 9 turbines show so significant yaw misalignments. ROMO can correct these errors and hereby provide the owner of a wind farm 2.1% more power. ROMO Wind is currently offering a yaw misalignment correction and advance wind analysis service of wind turbines and in 2014 also iSpin products for permanent advance turbine monitoring.
