Reboot Rx is a nonprofit that advances new cancer uses for FDA-approved generic drugs. Many generic drugs originally developed for other diseases show promising clinical data for new uses in cancer treatment. Yet most of these repurposing opportunities never become part of standard care. Once patents expire, no company can recover the cost of funding new trials or regulatory submissions, leaving promising treatments orphaned. OUR APPROACH We use AI-powered evidence synthesis to systematically identify generic drugs with strong clinical data for new uses in cancer treatment. Through research collaborations with institutions including the National Cancer Institute, Veterans Health Administration, and leading cancer centers, we help move these treatments toward clinical evaluation and use. Our approach includes three core activities: Identify — Analyze medical literature to surface generic drugs with robust evidence. Investigate — Partner on research to strengthen evidence where gaps remain. Inform — Provide clear, objective evidence summaries to support clinical decision-making. OUR IMPACT We've analyzed over 500,000 published studies and identified priority candidates targeting prostate, colorectal, and bladder cancers. Our peer-reviewed policy work clarifies pathways for advancing new uses of off-patent drugs when commercial incentives don't exist. We are based in the Greater Boston area and work nationally throughout the U.S. Reboot Rx does not manufacture or sell drugs, and does not profit from drug sales.
