We believe education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities and create lasting opportunity. Rafiki Thabo Foundation creates opportunities through education for young people and communities in Kenya, Lesotho and Uganda. Working alongside experienced local committees and community leaders, we support talented young people who have earned places at secondary school, polytechnic or university but would otherwise be unable to continue their education due to financial barriers. Our approach is community-led. Projects are identified, managed and delivered by people within the communities themselves, ensuring support reaches where it is needed most and creates meaningful, lasting impact. This is not child sponsorship. Every student supported by Rafiki Thabo has already qualified for further education through their own hard work and achievement. We provide the financial support that enables them to access the opportunities they have earned. Alongside educational grants, we invest in projects that strengthen communities and improve educational outcomes, including school feeding programmes, school infrastructure and wider community development initiatives. Since 2006, we have supported more than 1,300 scholars to access life-changing educational opportunities and build brighter futures for themselves, their families and their communities.
