Proxima Technology was founded in 1996 by former members of Patrol Software (the original developers of BMC Software's Patrol product). Our charter was to help organizations measure IT service from a business perspective and report on breaches in Service Level Agreements (SLAs). In 1997 Proxima Technology released an SLA management product running under PATROL called slamanage. This was one of the first commercially available products for managing IT SLAs. In April 2000, Proxima Technology launched Centauri Business Service Manager - the world's first solution to use the Six Sigma quality management method to improve business service and accountability through service level measurement, reporting and problem notification in distributed computing environments. A key component of Centauri is the digital dashboard; a graphical display that provides up-to-the-minute details about the quality of service being delivered by an organization's IT-dependent business processes. Today our business service management (BSM) product run in over 100 organizations and are managing some of the largest IT outsourced engagements in the world.
